Catarina Leitão's (German/Portuguese, b. 1970) work investigates the desire to domesticate our natural environment and, at the same time, fetishizes the natural aspects of our manmade urban surroundings. In her drawings, sculptures and public works, Leitão creates images that pit man versus nature, perhaps even proposing a crafted co-existence. Leitão's work has been exhibited at P.S.1's Greater New York, the Center for Book Arts and the Andrea Rosen Gallery in addition to an upcoming exhibition at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum.
