For the past fifteen years James Sienna (American, b. 1957) has been working his way to the top with his obsessive, intricate and excessively beautiful paintings and drawings. His work are accumulations of repetitions, line next to line next to line, and despite their obvious simplicity they break through more traditional conceptions of painting and with elegant and formal allusions. His work has been included in more than 120 individual and group exhibitions internationally including the prestigious PaceWildenstein gallery in New York, and his work is collected by the Whitney Museum of American Art, Yale University Art Gallery, UCLA-Hammer Museum, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
