Working since the early 1980s, Kathe Burkhardt (American, b. 1958) is best known for her "Liz Taylor Series," an assemblage of critical representations of Elizabeth Taylor, engaging with sexual politics appropriating pop culture and celebrity.

Kathe Burkhardt has exhibited nationally and internationally, including the Venice Biennial, The Brooklyn Museum, The Neuberger Museum and Participant Inc. In 2007, Burkhardt was the subject of a solo exhibition at P.S.1 in Long Island City, accompanied by the catalogue "The Liz Taylor Series, The First 25 Years." Less
