Scott Conarroe received a BFA from the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in 2001. He completed graduate studies at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 2005. His photographic studies of landscape and the built environment are exhibited and collected widely. He currently has work in the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia’s touring show Arena: The Art of Hockey and in Tim Barber’s tinyvices which has traveled to London, Paris, Tokyo, New York, and Mexico City since opening in 2006. Scott has recently done the prestigious Light Work residency in Syracuse NY, and was the very first Cerbex Beijing artist-in-residence. He has received numerous awards including Phoenix Foundation’s inaugural Galen Kuellmer Memorial Fellowship, Blackflash Magazine’s “Best Still Image 2008” prize, and a Canada Council for the Arts Research/Creation Grant in support of By Rail. A traveling exhibition and publication for that series will launch this autumn at the Art Gallery of Windsor. He is also the recipient of a 2008 Chalmers Fellowship to study the treatment of post-industrial areas in England, Germany, and the American Rust Belt. His photographs have been collected by the Canada Council Art Bank, The Bank of Montreal, The Cleveland Clinic, and numerous other private, corporate and public collections.
