Damien Hirst's (British, b. 1965) wide-ranging practice includes sculpture painting, drawings and prints. Known for his sensational works that launched the YBAs (Young British Artists) in the early 1990s, Hirst's career has continued to provoke and redefine the international art market over the last two decades.
In 1992, Damien Hirst exhibited his now famous 'Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living', a tiger shark in a glass tank of formaldehyde, recently installed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Damien Hirst has exhibited widely, including the Venice Biennial, the Tate Modern and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. In 1995, Hirst was awarded the prestigious Turner Prize.
